Mama’s got an iPad

A few months ago, Bastian and I were arguing about desktop vs mobile offerings for iROKO. He believes Android and iOS will eat the world, especially Africa. I am less bullish on the immediacy of this and feel it is 5–10years out. As a $-generating focused guy, I have an eye for the future but live today. Day by day, month by month, quarter by quarter. Bastian’s ending comment was that as the phone became as (if not more) sophisticated than the PC, people will simply stop buying them. And who the fuck would buy a PC over an iPad?

So my Mum is ground zero in terms of simple technology and internet usage. If she can understand it then basically anyone can. If it reaches her then it’s basically as mainstream as mainstream is. Whenever we evolve our UI on iROKOtv, I always see how my mum uses it to determine how successful we have been. Just sitting there watching her in itself is intriguing.
