On 1/12/11 we launched one of the first VOD platforms for Africa with Nollywood content at its core. Sure, some had tried it before, but I believe we were the first to fully sex up the content and make it attractive for a global audience. As you can see from the image above, the idea was always to migrate to a paid svod model (subscription video on demand). The first 8 months were free whilst we migrated people from our super successful ‘NollywoodLove on YouTube’. We are still the largest distributor of African content globally on YouTube with 950m video views across our managed channels.
We have accumulated almost 500m video views across YouTube and iROKOtv platform, just for Nollywood content in the last 3 years and we have the most expansive data set around Nollywood anyone has ever collated.
