Last week I spoke on a panel in Cannes, France at the global content marketplace MIPCOM. I was truly honoured to be in the presence of true VOD (Video on Demand) greatness. iROKOtv.com has come a long way. A really long way since being launched 1st December 2011, but in terms of size, we are nothing. Before iROKOtv, there were only a handful of truly premium, global and established OTT (over the top) players. VIKI, Dramafever and IVI.RU are amongst them.
VIKI.com launched in 2010, raised $28Mn and claim 22Mn uniques globally for Korean, Japanese, Tawainese and other aggregated content types. In September 2013, Japanese conglomerate Rakuten paid $200Mn to acquire the company. VIKI have one of the most advanced crowdsourced translation tools in the world.
