Yesterday at Bistro Ikeja GRA I was having a Q1 review with my Lagos executive team. We were waxing lyrical about various happenings at iROKO in 2013 and what we would have to do throughout the rest of the year to deliver on our y-o-y 100% revenue growth plan.
In stepped Hugo Obi. Bearing in mind this is someone I have known since 2005ish — my university days in Manchester — pre any notion or thought of African Internet things. He shook Bastian’s hand, completely ignored me and walked to the other side of the bistro.
My first thought. Fuck him.
But then there was a lingering thought about the nature of competition in Nigeria today. This wasn’t the first time someone close to me ended up competing with me. So a couple of stories need to be told.
